all puppies do and you have to continue to give preventative treatments (heartgard) throughout their lifespan. My pup was treated before i purchased him and he was treated again. You also have to watch what they eat.. dogs like to sniff and eat everything on the ground and they can easily ingest feces thats already infested with worms… or get mosquito bites (causes heartworms). So just because you treat it once, doesnt mean they are immune for the rest of their lives.

worms are parasites and if not treated can be spread through their stools..a puppy is born with worms only if the mother has a parisite in her..you can elimate that by making sure mother is fully dewormed before getting pregnent…yes alot of puppies are born with worms only due to lack of constant deworming of the mother and other dogs….if you have other dogs and they have worms then the pups will conract then..once wormed it is best to do a monthly worming on the dogs to prevent them reinfestation…If you notice a dog or puppy with worms in their stools it is best to sanitize the area after deworming is done that way the parisite will die..
The person who told you that pobably has dogs with worm and dont know how to properly treat or get rid of the parisite properly….

When they are a puppy, yes all dogs usually have worms and this is why when they are a puppy you have to get their shots and de-wrom them. After you de-worm your puppy then it’s all good. lol. Although as the dog becomes older and gets worms its probably sick and so just take it to the vet to have him/her de-wormed again and get an antibiotic for it. Dogs usually dont get worms tho after they’ve been de-wormed as a puppy unless you treat the dog poorly and it becomes ill. If youre looking to get a dog and are worried about it having worms, dont be. It will be fine. =]

Not true, most puppies and kittens tend to be born with some sort of intestinal parasites. You can only see two with the naked eye Rounds and Tapes the others Hooks, Whips, Coccidia and Giradia you can’t. It’s always the safest bet to have a stool exam done. You can worm for some and not treat others due to different types of medications.

All dogs have WORMS, 99% of worms are killed with treatment, but 1%alway remain-well this is what we were taught with horses, with horses they recommended changing the brand of wormer, so the worms don’t become resistant to the worming ingredients and I guess it is the same with dogs too.But if you don’t have a dog on heartworm treatment, get a VET to do a BLOODTEST. If given HEARTworm treatment without the bloodtest, IT CAN KILL THE DOG

if you keep up to date with the worming treatment then no they do not get them, puppies can be born with worms but you can usually worm the mum just after mating and the pups should be clear,if you don’t worm the mum then the puppies can be born with worms, hope you find the answer you are looking for best of luck.

All puppies have worms, but once treated, dogs do not carry the parasite, until re-infected again. And you should clean up ALL dog-poop,once they have been dosed,as the worms can cause toxicaria – which can lead to nasty infections in humans, and even partial blindness.

I think they meant all puppies have worms. Yes all puppies have to be dewormed, then they are gone. They can come back in young dogs and adults but not usually the case and only if conditions allow for a dog to get worms. In this case you just treat it again and there gone.

Dog should be dewormed in every 3 – 6 months depending on the drug used, if the schedule is followed there r less chances of internal parasites. However locality where the dog live decide its worm load & acquiring new infection.
If properly cared they may not acquire infection, better to follow deworming programme.

What is meant by that is that you should “assume” that all dogs have worms, and treat them as if they do.
I often tell people with a litter of pups that “all dogs have worms”

no it is not true that all dogs have worms for the rest of thier life if you treat them and have thier stool tested until it comes back clean of parasites the dog no longer has worms

all puppies have worms and all dogs can get worms if not treated corectly. If the got dewormed with the right dewormer then no, they dont have it
