My Dog’s Being Really Sleepy And Lethargic Today?

This is a tag off someone elses question and I couldn’t find any good answers.
She’s only 1 year old and she’s always been very active and energetic. Today we went outside to play with a tennis ball, and she just seemed less interested and lazy (she’s usually running and sprinting all over the place). And today she’s just been lying around and sleeping all day. Is there something wrong with her? She gets plenty of sleep every night, and she gets outside and runs around regularly.
She’s all up to date with flea, worming and vaccination treatments.

I wouldn’t worry too much over one day of lethargy. If it becomes a habit though, I would. She might have just had an off-day. We have those too sometimes :) Dogs aren’t above that.
Has she had any shots recently, or any changes around the home? Maybe she played really hard yesterday and is exhausted today. There are a lot of factors that go into it.
My little wheaton/yorkie (or some sort of mutt) has some days where is enjoys napping a little more than others. Keep an eye on it, but give it a day or two is my opinion.

To me this would be a warning sign that something MAY (not definitely) going on with your pup. I would call the vets office in the morning and describe your dogs symptoms. They will tell you what they think you need to do. Good luck and hope she feels better soon!

If she is not better by tomorrow, get her in to the vet. I won’t even hazard a guess as to what could be wrong. I can tell you it is not normal and should be checked out.

have you ever had a “blah” day like that? yeah, dogs can have them too. Most likely its a little sick. if it continues however, id consult a vet

If the behavior change doesn’t stop, call your vet for advice. Try taking the dog for a long walk someplace where he’s never been.

Lethargy is sometimes confused with exhaustion. Here is a link that gives a description of lethargic in dogs: http://www.petplace.com/dogs/lethargy-in…
She may just be worn out from all the energetic exercises you do with her. Does she eat normally still? As long as she is eating and drinking plenty of water in normal routine, she’s more than likely fine especially if all up to date on shots and checked out by vet already.
She still has puppy years there and sometimes they have days where they just sleep all day off and on and not very energetic. She could also be bored with the activities. Try something new too. Add change to activities, such as throwing a Frisbee, play tug of war on a tug toy (good exercise for them), and a different walking path.
Give her two more days and if she’s still acting of abnormal to you, check with your vet.
If it helps, my dog had those off days too when he was a pup. I panicked as well and every time I went to vet, he was healthy as always. They have resting days too.
    Hope I helped
