What kind of worms do kittens get? I know a lot of kittens have worms when they are little and need dewormed asap. I was wondering if they were tape worms, round worms, or what kind of worms? Can people get them? If so, how? This is kind of out there but can a worm fall out of their butts onto the floor? Should they not sleep in the bed with me if they have worms? Am I going to get worms?

Hey guys, I was chatting to a friend of mine the other day who gave me some horse dewormer powder and dog dewormer tabs and I asked if he could spare some cat dewormer too, he then told me to break 1 dog tab in half and give it to my cat, would this harm my cat if I did this? because Im worried that it would be too strong for him (the cat is 11 years young) I would buy some cat dewormer but with all the money shortages I’m finding it difficult to get the supplies needed.
thanks in advance
(serious answers please)

My cat is 100% indoor. I don’t want to apply anything on her unless it’s absolutely needed. Currently, I’ve been applying Frontline Plus on her every 1-2 months and works well. I don’t want to deworm her but since I am very close to her, I want to make sure she is worm free. She was dewormed 1-2 years ago. How do I know if a deworming is needed now? In another words, how do I know if she has worms/parasites in her?

I have a round worm problem in my yard due to adopting a new siberian husky in September – he was a stray so not dewormed regularly. On a strict course of Quantel Dewormer for all pets in my household for next 6 weeks.
However, just realised my cat is pregnant (SHOCKER) have given her a half a tab before knowing – is Quantel safe for pregnant cats?? She must be approximately 5 wks along as that’s the only time frame I can figure that she could have disappeared with her “boyfriend”.
ANY KNOWLEDGE BE GREATLY APPRECIATED IN STOPPING ME FREAKING OUT!

Fleas are a real pain to get rid off, (speaking from past experience). I’ve found with my cat that the best thing to do is get some flea tablets from one of the larger pet stores , that you can crush into your cats food – so that he or she will eat it.
The tables work very quickly & some kill the the fleas within 20mins. But you have to make sure that you finish the treatment recommended even if you think that the fleas have gone & your cats stopped sratching !
The tables alone won’t work, you need to get a fine flea comb, & comb through your cats fur at least once a day to get rid of the live fleas living in the fur. Dip the comb into soapy water or a flea shampoo treatment to kill the fleas removed from your cat.
You can get some flea spray to spray onto your cats fur – but i found that it doesn’t work very good, as you cat just try’s to groom themselves & will end up licking it off (which the spray can be dangerous for cats if eaten / licked!)
Flea collars are also a must – you can get one from any pet stop, but make sure that you change them regulally as the anti flea effects wears off after a while.
You can also buy flea shampoo – which worked really well for me, its a safe medicated shampoo for cats and it kills the fleas on the fur.
This sound be the first thing that do and give your cat a really good bath & be paying attention to the face, neck also. Fleas don’t like water & you will find when shampooing you cat with the flea shampoo , you may even see them trying to escape – by all heading towards your cats head !! (I know it sounds odd – but it means that the shampoo it working and killing them!!)
Make sure that you hover all your furniture, beds etc.. and once done either discard of the hover bag outside or place a cut up flea collar into the hover bag to kill them , otherwide they will just be living inside your hover & will re-infest the house & cat.
Theres nothing wrong with giving you cat a dewormer treatment, as a preventive measure, but it won’t cure the fleas – You need a flea treatment for this. You can go to your vet where they can give a anti flea treatment injection – if desperate.
I hope this helps.

The bad reviews all tend to be about the Spot on Flea product but not the Spot On Wormer product. I bought this today and am now in a panic about whether to give it to my one year old tortie.
Please help!

I have 2 cats. one is 4 yrs old and the other is 2 yrs old. We just found out that they have worms. They look like grains of rice. Don’t know what type of worms they are. If you can also tell me that as well, I would appreciate it. We are thinking of bringing another cat into the home but we have to get rid of this problem first. Thank you in advance for your help!
