Anytime my cat or dog get woms, my vet gives me meds for both of them to treat the worms and the fleas. My guess would be that if the cat has worms, the dog might also, especially if they both have fleas. Eating out of the same bowl is kind of irrelavent.

I have three very mischievous dogs… I recently found out they were getting into the lower cabinets and eating the cereal, cakes, and candies I keep hidden underneathe it… … at first I thought it was mice… I was in the process of calling an exterminator and rearranging my kitchen by putting the dishes in the bottom cabinets and the sweets in the top ones… until I caught them in action today when coming home from work early..Im still going to rearrange it so that they cant get into the sweets anymore. I had called one of my friends and asked should i take them to the vet… just to be on the safe side and she said yes they could get worms… Is it true that dogs get worms from eating sweets…?

Why do you feel your dog has tapeworms? Often times tapeworms are not a common occurence in normal dogs. Farm dogs etc may be a different story but unless you are sure he has tapes best not to treat for them. The best over the counter product you can purchase is called Safeguard. It comes in a powder form that you top dress on some canned food (works best) This product MUST be given for 3 consecutive days or will not work. It also gets other worms as well and is used off label to tx giardia.

I have a mama cat with me right now and her kittens are 2 weeks old. I’m almost certain that she has worms. Can I give her dewormer now or should I wait untill the kittens have weaned?

the doctor should of provided you with instructions with a proper dose for the weight of your cat. If you did not get the medication from a vet…do not give it…especially if there are no directions. It will not be strong enough to kill the parastie and the host if it is not a perscription anyways. No, dewormers are nothing like antibiotics…parasites dont have anything to to with the immune system..unless there is a severe infestation and it causes an infection.
Call your vet…read them off the name of the medication, and see what they reccomend. Do not just dose medications on a guess. thats how people kill their pets…by playing veterinarian, You are giing your cat a dewormer, which means its purpose is to strip the intestinal wall for parasites…if you give too much…your gonna do serious harm to your cat.

i got some strongid dewormer from the vets office and they told me to wait a week but the worms are still there, do you think its safe to give the other dose of dewormer today instead of thursday. she’s 8 weeks old.
