I have a 4 year old about 16-17 pound mini schnauzer who just went for some shots today. She got a couple, rabies, lymes, and heart worm. She was pretty fine when I came home at about 3. Then I sat down on my computer and she came in my room sniffing around a lot. She looked like she had to go out so she went out. Now she is acting really lazy. She hasn’t gotten up and she feels slightly warm. Is she having a reaction? If so should it be anything to worry about? I know a fever can be pretty common in human vaccinations.

This is a reason to call the vet. This is not a normal reaction to vaccinations or dewormer.

Found a stray in my neighborhood and he was skin and bones. I knew if he went to the pound he would be euthanized within days. I kept him and took him to the vet for a checkup and of course he’s heart worm positive. Got him started on the treatments and he’s doing well. Problem is, he and my lab have been at each other since almost the beginning. They fight about any and everything. The other night it was so bad, one of them was bleeding at the neck. Also, they’ve both began peeing in the house. I can’t even have them in the house any longer. I know my older dog is jealous of the new one and he’s acting out so I’ve had to put both of them outside. Question is, do I keep him do I try something else? I don’t know what to do.

This is a 2 y/o rescue (a miniature schnauzer) that I am fostering. He has recently been neutered, vaccinated, groomed, etc. He was heartworm negative and given his first does of Sentinel on Monday. Yesterday he passed bloody diarrhea and again today. I didn’t see yesterdays stool (my husband cleaned it up) but I did see roundworms in todays bloody stool. It looks like he had them pretty bad. Mucus, blood and worms. I read that that bloody stool is often seen in roundworm treatment. But he has thrown up twice today. Is that normal? Can I give him anything for the vomiting? I can get him into the vet tomorrow, but I hate to spend $$$$ on an emergency vet on Christmas if this is just a side effect of the dewormer. I’ve read almost everything online about it. Anybody have any experience with this? He ate some dog treats this morning and threw them up. Not surprising – he wouldn’t eat his breakfast after that. Aside from being a little subdued, he is acting okay.

I’m getting ready to get a puppy & the owners told me the mother has had heart worms, but very mild case. So mild the vet treated her only with heart guard. Will her puppies have heart worms as well. I’ve never heard of only treating with heart guard as 1 of my dogs did have heart worms & the expensive was in the thousands, but was worth it for my dog. I just don’t want to go through this again. Thanks for any insight

Except for looking at the stool for worms cuz it may not have hatched yet…
Also except for going to the vet just to get it checked…cuz I will pay a lot like $50 and I can buy a lot of dog food with that
