My black Lab puppy was a frisky and lively girl. This past weekend she stop eating..Took her to get shots today and the vet gave her a dewormer,b12 and antibiotic. Tonight my baby pup passed a pool of smelly bloody stool with little strings in it.. The one plus is she is drinks alot of water and walks around her room every now and then what should I do? I read something about given pups pedilyte is that good?
There are no stores open at this hour & vets are closed on Sundays. Anything natural I can safely give her until the stores open at 9am? She’s only 7 months old & 5 pounds.
I have 2 nursing dogs and they both have worms bad. 1 of the dogs we got and we didn’t know she had worms and we didn’t even now she was pregnant. I was wondering if humans can catch worms?
If you treated him with “Revolution” then you treated him for the whole enchilada. All the worms and fleas and ticks will soon die. Same with Advantage and Feline Frontline and Advantage.
They are all very safe for the cat but kill all those parasites. If you got it over the counter at a pet store then let’s hope you don’t kill your cat.
Fleas are a real pain to get rid off, (speaking from past experience). I’ve found with my cat that the best thing to do is get some flea tablets from one of the larger pet stores , that you can crush into your cats food – so that he or she will eat it.
The tables work very quickly & some kill the the fleas within 20mins. But you have to make sure that you finish the treatment recommended even if you think that the fleas have gone & your cats stopped sratching !
The tables alone won’t work, you need to get a fine flea comb, & comb through your cats fur at least once a day to get rid of the live fleas living in the fur. Dip the comb into soapy water or a flea shampoo treatment to kill the fleas removed from your cat.
You can get some flea spray to spray onto your cats fur – but i found that it doesn’t work very good, as you cat just try’s to groom themselves & will end up licking it off (which the spray can be dangerous for cats if eaten / licked!)
Flea collars are also a must – you can get one from any pet stop, but make sure that you change them regulally as the anti flea effects wears off after a while.
You can also buy flea shampoo – which worked really well for me, its a safe medicated shampoo for cats and it kills the fleas on the fur.
This sound be the first thing that do and give your cat a really good bath & be paying attention to the face, neck also. Fleas don’t like water & you will find when shampooing you cat with the flea shampoo , you may even see them trying to escape – by all heading towards your cats head !! (I know it sounds odd – but it means that the shampoo it working and killing them!!)
Make sure that you hover all your furniture, beds etc.. and once done either discard of the hover bag outside or place a cut up flea collar into the hover bag to kill them , otherwide they will just be living inside your hover & will re-infest the house & cat.
Theres nothing wrong with giving you cat a dewormer treatment, as a preventive measure, but it won’t cure the fleas – You need a flea treatment for this. You can go to your vet where they can give a anti flea treatment injection – if desperate.
I hope this helps.
We adopted a eight month old Wheaton Terrier mix from the shelter last month. When he first came to the house, he was so quiet, snuggly and sweet.
He was extremely well behaved and kind of quiet. Then, one day he vomitted up a bunch of worms. We took him to the doctor and had him treated for Giardia and worms immediately.
Now, after two weeks of treatments, he’s gotten extremely hyper and doing things he’s never done before. For instance, he pulls really hard on his leash when we walk him; jumped up in the bed and started licking wife in the face; tried to jump up on the couch while I was watching TV; jumped out of the backseat of the car (luckily we were in the garage) etc.
The only positive change has been that he intiates play now.
What’s going on here?
The vet is closed for the holiday weekend, and I hate to see my puppy so miserable. She is 11 months old, and we just found short white worms in her stool. Does anyone know what I could give her to temporarily fight the worms? It will be a few more days before the vet opens again.
it was about 4 mm thick and was made of about 5mm long segments that were roughly heart shaped. what are they? is there a treatment? do i need to bring him to the vet?
The ones fron fleas. I forget what they are called but my mothers’ dog had what we thought was a huge – about 4 inch long – from her rectum. Could this be a flat worm? The vet said dogs only get 1 worm and I dont believe her. It was kind of grey and flat and pencil wide in thickness, but it was expelled before we could do anything about it. Yes, I know its gross, but someone please help!! thanx!
