What kind of worms do kittens get? I know a lot of kittens have worms when they are little and need dewormed asap. I was wondering if they were tape worms, round worms, or what kind of worms? Can people get them? If so, how? This is kind of out there but can a worm fall out of their butts onto the floor? Should they not sleep in the bed with me if they have worms? Am I going to get worms?
i have two dogs and im pretty sure they both have it since they are always together… they have had all of the symptoms (diarhea, dull coat, little appetite, coughing) I really freak out when my dogs are sick so I want them dewormed immediately. Is it expensive? I know i need to supply stool samples but how much does all of this cost??
btw they have had symptoms for about a wk.
If it has worms, yes. Is this cat an adult that you have had indoors or is this a new kitten or a new addition to your family?
If you have had this cat for some time and it has always been inside then probably no need to deworm but it this is a kitten or a new cat for you then i would take him/her to the vet and have a stool sample checked
Why do you feel your dog has tapeworms? Often times tapeworms are not a common occurence in normal dogs. Farm dogs etc may be a different story but unless you are sure he has tapes best not to treat for them. The best over the counter product you can purchase is called Safeguard. It comes in a powder form that you top dress on some canned food (works best) This product MUST be given for 3 consecutive days or will not work. It also gets other worms as well and is used off label to tx giardia.
Carol i have no idea what your asking? Why is your golden taking a antibiotic??? What does that have to do with him being dewormed???
Nope, was out on the shelf at the vet clinic I worked at years back.
If you treated him with “Revolution” then you treated him for the whole enchilada. All the worms and fleas and ticks will soon die. Same with Advantage and Feline Frontline and Advantage.
They are all very safe for the cat but kill all those parasites. If you got it over the counter at a pet store then let’s hope you don’t kill your cat.
what is a dewormer product you trust? where to buy? my dog is on revolution and interceptor, i thought that was good enough, no?
I am putting my dogs on HeartGard starting February 1st. I always thought that dogs needed an over the counter dewormer in addition to a product like Heartgard. However, Heartgard claims to help prevent roundworms and hookworms too. Can someone help me with this confusion? Also, if they do need an additional OTC dewormer too, can you recommend a brand? Thanks so much! 
The vet is closed for the holiday weekend, and I hate to see my puppy so miserable. She is 11 months old, and we just found short white worms in her stool. Does anyone know what I could give her to temporarily fight the worms? It will be a few more days before the vet opens again.
